| Adrian Stewart |

The Hawker Hurricane, together with the Spitfire, is the most famous aircraft of the Second World War. Many pilots including Douglas Bader thought it was superior to the Spit but together they saved Britain from Nazi invasion and possible defeat. AVIATION CLASSICS ISSUE 4 - Knightys of the Sky |
| Jarrod Cotter (Ed) |
In Issue 4 of Aviation Classics the clock turns back to World War One, when military aviation was in its infancy and aerial combat was a new concept of war. During this era, as well as much courage the airmen still showed elements of chivalry – hence the edition is called Knights of the Sky. Numerous topics are featured, including the formation of the Royal Flying Corps under the leadership of General Henderson, the Order of Battle of the Royal Air Force when it was established as the world’s first independent air service on 1 April 1918 and the formation of the US Air Service. Other articles range from flying the fragile fabric covered biplanes over the trenches of the Western Front to the little-covered war in the Sinai Desert and even the first aircraft carrier strike in history. We’ll look at....

Demons in the Dark |
| Tom Atkins |
NEW Fiction book based on the exploits of 106 Lancaster Squadron in World War 2. Synopsis: In early 1944 the strategic bomber war over Europe was at its height. By day American B17s and B24s fought desperate, frenzied, close-ranges battles with German fighters for control of the skies over occupied Europe. At night the Royal Air Force fought an altogether different war. Their war was cold, calculated, ruthless and just as deadly. They did not see the fighters trying to kill them. They could not feel the lethal radar beams reaching out for them. They had no warning of when death would suddenly strike. These were their Demons in the Dark. It was into this war that Pilot Officer Doug Jackson and his crew flew, when they arrived at Royal Air Force Metheringham. Straight from training, they had to learn fast or die as the head....

D-Day Plus One: Shot Down and on the Run in France - Signed |
| Frank 'Dutch' Holland |
Until June 1944, Frank Holland’s war had been similar to that of many of his colleagues. With 184 Squadron in the Second Tactical Air Force, he had flown a Hurricane or Spitfire against a myriad of targets, and he had always got back safely. But then, on the day after D-Day, disaster struck. During a low flying attack on a marshalling yard in Normandy, he met intense opposition from German anti-aircraft fire, and his Typhoon aircraft was hit and badly damaged. Frank managed to take the aircraft up to 1200 feet but then the engine went dead and his Typhoon soon began heading towards the earth at an accelerating and frightening speed. Struggling frantically, he just barely got free of the cockpit and baled....
