Douglas Jennings was a bomb aimer on 57 and 9 Squadrons from 1944-45. Whilst flying on Lancaster operations from his base in Lincolnshire with 57 Sqn he was shot down and with the help of the Belgian resistance evaded capture to return to operations. Then with 9 Sqn, that were at the time equipped with the Barns Wallis developed ‘Tall Boy’ bomb, he nearly had to ‘hit the silk’ again but managed to just get back safely.
After deducting the production costs, the balance of the cover price will be going to the Thorpe Camp Preservation Group near Woodhall Spa to help with their aim of preserving part of the No1 Communal Site at RAF Woodhall Spa.
